The story of the piece
The whole caftan is embroidered. The aqua-green ground vanishes under tone-on-tone foliage, and over it come the flowers — fuchsia, taupe, cream, with dark-green leaves — like a garden let loose over the silk.
It is a daytime piece: a spring wedding, an engagement, a celebration lunch. Long and straight, it closes with a column of small aqad buttons and is worn without a belt.
